OSU Wrestler Kyle Snyder Makes Olympic History

Kyle Snyder, Ohio State University student and recipient of the Jennings family student athlete scholarship, made history at Rio this weekend when he won gold, making him the youngest U.S. Olympic wrestling champion at twenty years old.

Snyder brought home the gold with a 2-1 win over Khetag Goziumov of Azerbaijan, a previous Olympic medal winner,  in the 97 kg. men’s freestyle this Sunday.

As reported by teamusa.com, Snyder had this to say upon his victory:

“It was a tough match. I wrestled that guy like a month ago and he beat me, so I’m happy that I’ve been able to improve on that performance, and, I keep saying it, I’m really thankful and grateful that I’ve even had this opportunity to wrestle…”

In the last year, Kyle has won the World Title, the Big Ten Championship, and the NCAA Championship, all while studying at Ohio State University and training for the Olympics.

The Financial Providence Group team is incredibly proud of Kyle Snyder for his outstanding performance this weekend, and for all the hard work that led up to winning this gold medal. We’re honored to have played a small part in supporting Kyle’s road to Olympic Gold, and we look forward to supporting other athletes in our communities.

Congratulations, Kyle!
